In March 1944 , Vaprouf awarded a production contract for the development of three new variants of the Pz.Kpfw IV . From June 1944 , it was carried out in Krupp Grussundweik , and in February 1945 , the production of Pz.Kpfw.III/IV series products began . By July 12 , 1944 , Krupp was informed that the Pz.Kpfw.III /IV program had been abandoned and only the plan for the fighter tank L / 70 was continued.
