The Bell UH-1 "Iroquois" helicopter, commonly referred to as the "Huey", is a multi-role military helicopter developed in 1955 by the United States Army Air Forces on the basis of Bell's Bell - 204 helicopter. Military type. In the early days, the military gave it the number HU-1 . It was first used for military missions in 1959. Since 1962 , all production models have been renamed the UH-1 series. The UH-1 family has been modernized and improved and its various models have continued to be produced until 1976 , with a total production of more than 16,000 aircraft, of which about 7,000 participated in the Vietnam War that made the "Huey" famous.
