The Optimus has established itself as a reliable, high-performance car based on solid engineering and innovative design. The new Optimus GP draws on that experience where important and is completely new where the demands of nitro power dictate. Fundamentaly, that means a whole new design of the main chassis and drive out to the front and rear differential gearboxes. The chassis itself is aluminium as is most of the top chassis. Only around the engine installation do DHK move into their own unique way of chassis bracing.
The durable, .21 class, rear-exhaust, pull-start engine is mounted longitudinally and transmits its power via an SG style crankshaft, aluminium, 3-shoe clutch and metal bell gear into the centre differential using a composite moulded main gear to absorb vibrations and reduce noise. Fuel is stored in the uniquely mounted, fast-fill tank that is designed to avoid the cracking that so many do in an impact.
The ergonomic, 2.4gHz radio system has its receiver in a water-resistant box and connects to a metal geared, ball-raced, 9Kg steering servo and a 3kg throttle/brake servo. A combination of power, precision and reliability that you would expect fromn DHK.
Fully metal, differential gearbox gears, fully metal shocks and shock towers are just part of the advanced specification that sets the Optimus GP apart from the competition.
