History:

There are over 300 known species of octopus, many of which are widely distributed around the world’s oceans. All octopuses are venomous, although only the blue-ringed octopus poses a threat to humans. Thankfully, most species of octopus are not considered threatened or endangered, although some niche species are believed to be vulnerable.
