Developed by the Budd Company in the mid-1970s, the Amfleet I was the first single-level passenger car designed exclusively for Amtrak®. With over 350 still in service across the United States today, it remains the backbone of Amtrak’s single-level passenger car fleet and can be found on regional and intercity trains from coast to coast.
