Fill in model building

Just discharged from hospital and not ready to go build in the model shed I was looking for a project that would distract me from my current healing discomforts.
I finished a balsa USA 1/3rd Fly Baby recently so my fingers were itching to play with Balsa. The Guillows kit has been perfect in filling my need. So far I have completed the fuselage and tail feathers with the wings yet started- the laser cutting is superb and although the balsa rather hard this is probably a good thing as the model will only be for display.
I am enjoying the contrast to my usual building of large scale rc models

Guillows Morse Scout kitset balsa model plane

Nice looking kit but like all Guillows kits it is over-engineered and some of the balsa is heavier than really necessary. However it's easy to remove excess balsa as you go go along. The full size Scout has fuselage sides that are flat and slab-like in appearance with no evidence of the internal structure ( google images of the full size aircraft) so it's important to sand the model's fuselage sides to get an even finish if you want to capture the distinctive appearance of the full size Morse Scout.
